La Défense Car Park Authority, Vinci Park, Paris, France

Context: La Défense car park has a huge capacity of 23000 cars in 16 underground parking areas. In such underground facilities, air conditioning and ventilation systems are critical. In La Défense, they are controlled by 43 PLCs. To make sure that their facility would stay up to date, the car park authority decided to migrate the control system from old April PB 80 and PB 400 PLCs (now Schneider Electric) to new PL7-Pro offered by Schneider Electric. They asked Itris Automation Square to convert all 43 PLC programs and to participate in the commissioning.

Challenge: Closing such a huge parking area has very important financial consequences. Thus, the car park authority decided to dedicate only 2 days to the scheduled downtime. The converted applications had to be perfect to make sure that such a short delay was possible.

Success: Itris Automation Square experts planned the conversion, translated the programs and prepared the commissioning in Itris offices. When commissioning day arrived, they were confident that it would be a success thanks to their usage of semantic conversion tools. Indeed, the upload of the programs into the new PLCs lasted a couple of hours and then, the rest of the 2 days was spent watching the system work properly. Not even a single bug occured during the 2 days of downtime.
